THE VISION OF RWM ATTORNEYS BY THE CHAIRMAN:
Our firm has a very long and proud history going back 118 years. Its track
record over this period speaks for itself. The challenge to the present
management whose responsibility it is to drive the vision forward lies in how
well we embrace change. The organization must be prepared to change everything
about itself except its basic beliefs as it moves through corporate life. As Jim
Collins properly articulated the matter, the only sacred cow in an organization
should be its basic philosophy of doing business. To this end we have during
2007, for the first time in the entire history of the firm undergone a name
change from ROOTH & WESSELS, to ROOTH WESSELS MALULEKE Inc, giving life to our
commitment of preserving the core while stimulating progress. Further to this
commitment we have undertaken and bound ourselves to becoming the break-away
firm.
This vision has a number of very important themes which shall now address. First
of all we have to accelerate our transformation and empowerment objectives by
having clearly defined goals and courageous measurable action plans. Secondly it
is essential that as a firm we invest in capacity and skill building of all our
employees in order to fast track our mission towards achieving long term
success. Thirdly we welcome and encourage diversity as it produces an inspired
environment that generates creative thinking, better solutions and increased
understanding both for our staff and our clients. Fourthly we have a
responsibility to our staff and managers alike to invest in their training to
ensure that the leadership, staff and management of the firm is adequately
trained to achieve the objectives of a team reflective of the diversity of our
South African population. In the fifth place we have to align the profile and
image of the firm, its strategy and positioning in a manner that enables the
firm to be a relevant and valuable partner to all our stakeholders. In this
regard we have to enforce the basic standards of quality, client service and
hard work. Finally we must assist the government in its drive for the
eradication of poverty, high levels of illiteracy, access to justice, crime
prevention, HIV and AIDS, and job creation as part of our Corporate Social
Investment. In this regard the firm endeavors to constantly identify
organizations involved in these projects to lend a helping hand.
